Merton Green Party are delighted to announce their candidates to fight the General
Election on 12 December 2019.
A state secondary school English teacher for thirteen years, a Media Arts university tutor during the completion of my doctorate, and now a trainee caseworker for a local user-led deaf and disabled people's organisation, as well as a carer for my father, I first lived in the Mitcham and Morden constituency in the late 70s and early 80s, and returned in 2013 when I was lucky enough to move into the property in which my grandparents and father were the first council tenants.
The area has much to commend it, but it is clear to see that the combination of a somewhat complacent Labour-led council and a long-serving Labour MP has resulted in a kind of inertia. Since moving here, I have been compelled to take an active interest in: the controversial mass transfer of housing stock to housing associations such as Clarion; the dearth of truly affordable housing; the questionable outsourcing of waste management to Veolia; the dubious outsourcing of the management of our green spaces to idverde; the illegal levels of air pollution that harm residents and visitors; the council’s insistence upon raising revenue by allowing arguably inappropriate events to be held in certain green spaces; the various problematic proposals to 'reconfigure' healthcare provision; the unforgivable cuts to Adult Social Care; and the much-discussed but much-delayed regeneration of Morden town centre.
In short, I work hard to hold elected representatives to account, and am determined to help make the constituency a better place for residents and visitors alike.

I am honoured to stand as parliamentary candidate for Wimbledon constituency. I have worked in healthcare for 26 years, mostly as a paediatric nurse. Through working across a variety of fields in the public, private and charitable sectors, I have been able to gain a deep insight into the pressures that many families have to endure, especially those with children with long-term, complex and life-limiting conditions.
My experiences have also helped me to develop a practical and diplomatic approach to solving problems and to resolving conflicts, a skill that I am certain would be transferable to the role of Member of Parliament. I have lived in SW20 with my partner for 20 years and I have three children. I have enjoyed being active in my local community and I have been a Local Green Party Officer since 2015.
