Merton Greens challenge Merton council's inaction on fly-tipping.

20 May 2018

Merton Green Party's Tom Killick has reported one of the many fly-tipping incidences across Merton, only to be faced with inaction. The dumped items of furniture, as pictured, were located on the footpath near Morden town centre, between London Road and Kenley Road. This path is heavily used by local residents walking to and from the tube station. Tom reported this on 12th May and the area is yet to be cleared.

A fellow local resident found evidence in the filing cabinet of who was responsible and passed it to Merton Council asking them to take enforcement action, but has received no response to date.

This is not the first incident of fly-tipping that has been reported by Merton Green Party members. We call upon Merton Council to provide more information to local residents regarding timescales for removing items of dumped furniture.
